Anatomy Study

Title: “Untitled”
Media: Charcoal on paper

A study on lighting, texture and contrast using compressed charcoal and graphite sticks. I found the experience very challenging and rewarding. This piece probably sparked my love for charcoal on paper.

Nautilus Rose

Title: “Nautilus Rose”
Media: Pastel on paper
Size: 9 x 12 inches

Inspired by the spiraled, geometric interior of a nautilus shell and rose petals, this abstract piece is an explosion of vibrant earth tones. I tend to enjoy using a limited color palette when working with pastels, earth tones are my favorite.

Panthera leo

Title: “Panthera leo”
Media: Charcoal on paper
Size: 17 x 14 inches

My strong interest in sculpture and wildlife is evident in this piece. The subject is a statue from one of several public squares in Savannah Georgia. I also explored strong contrast and lighting inspired by the chiaroscuro technique of the Renaissance era.
